Can She Get a Porcelain Veneers Refund after Moving Out of State?

Posted by writeradmin

I had porcelain veneers done by my dentist. They’ve been a disappointment from the beginning. I’ve learned since then that he was supposed to do something called a try-in for me to look at them before he bonds them in. That didn’t happen. They were way too thick and looked weird. I told him that. He disagreed and said I just wasn’t used to them. I left upset but decided I should ask my husband first. He agreed but I ended up having a bigger problem. I couldn’t bite properly and had trouble sleeping most of the night because of the pain I was in. I really didn’t get much help from my dentist. We’ve recently moved to another state and I had another dentist look at it. He agreed with me that they were too thick. He also said that there was limited envelope function that needed to be repaired. Can I get a refund from my other dentist?

Dear Dani,

Porcelain veneer being placed on a tooth

In most cases, you cannot get a refund for a smile makeover because you don’t like the results. However, it sounds like there was more than just an appearance issue. If the porcelain veneers have caused a problem with your bite, then that is not a simply an aesthetic issue. Bite problems could lead to TMJ Disorder.

There are two ways to get a refund from the dentist. One is with just asking politely. You can try that, but the way your dentist responded to your concerns initially, I’m not hopeful that he’ll care.

The second way is with some pressure. You could have the dentist who evaluated your bite to tell the dentist the issues he or she discovered. Sometimes a dentist will respond better to a peer. It’s a sort of professional peer pressure.

If that doesn’t work, you can see if your current dentist thinks the problem is strong enough to consider it malpractice. Though, being in a new state now makes that more of a hardship for you.
