Best Option to Fix Overjet Teeth
Posted by writeradmin
I have overjet teeth and asked my dentist what are my options to fix them. He gave me three options. First, braces. Second, rubber bands, and third replacing them. I’m not crazy about the idea of metal braces. The rubber bands would be just as obvious, and replacing them sounds expensive. What do you think is my best option?

Dear David,
For those who do not know what overjet teeth is, that is what is sometimes called “buck teeth,” like when your front teeth protrude a bit or even a lot depending on the severity of the case.
Now, onto your question, David. I am not thrilled with the way your dentist has presented this. Braces are fine, but like you said, what adult wants a mouth full of metal? The rubber bands I am puzzled about. I hope with all that is in me that your dentist is not suggesting that YouTube trend from a few years ago where people were trying to close a tooth gap by wrapping a rubber band around their front two teeth. This would result in your front teeth coming loose. As for his (or her) third suggestion to remove and replace your teeth, that is absolutely ridiculous.
My first suggestion is that you find a new dentist. Seriously. Yours is a disaster. As for recommendations, other than traditional braces, which you’ve already stated you don’t want, I would suggest you use Invisalign. This will straighten your teeth without anyone even knowing. Invisalign uses clear aligners and are invisible even at a conversational distance.
Another option is porcelain veneers. These won’t actually straighten your teeth, but a skilled cosmetic dentist can make them appear straight. The upside to this is that this is the same procedure celebrities use to get their gorgeous Hollywood smiles. They can give you a complete smile makeover. The downside is that they are much more expensive than straightening them with Invisalign.
