Children’s DentistryWe see kids from 3 to 103 at our office! In fact 90% of children are able to get all of their dental needs addressed at our office, without the need of a pediatric specialist. This makes it easy to coordinate everyone's care when the whole family can visit the same office. We try to make going to the dentist a fun, positive experience. While we do not believe in lying to your child to get their care completed, but we do find it helpful to use age appropriate terminology. For example: We say… Instead of… Sleepy Juice Needle Whistle Drill Wiggle Pull Mr. Thristy Suction You are welcome to be present during all your child’s treatment but we ask that you remain quiet. Some children behave better if they are not aware of their parents presence so often parents will peak in and watch the treatment from behind. Often parents have their own fears and it is important to not transfer for these to your children. Please feel free to discuss you child’s appointment ahead of time. If you aren’t sure how to answer you children’s questions often saying ”I don’t know. Let’s ask the doctor when we get there!” is the best answer. Occasionally children have extensive decay or management issues that are better addressed by a pediatric dentist. If your child will require sedation to adequately address their dental needs we have great working relationships with nearby pediatric dentists.
